Mini-Lecture "The Economics of Health Care"

This course provides an introduction to theoretical models and empirical applications in health economics. Topics include the provision and design of health insurance, causes and consequences of provider behavior, and competition in health care markets. There will also be a module on Pollution and Health.
As all RGS Mini-Lectures, the course is designed for students who have taken a first-year PhD sequence in Economics. Students taking the course for credit will be asked to give a 30-minute, in-class presentation on one paper (papers and presentation dates to be assigned before the first class based on registration).

Modul 3: Die professionelle Präsentation Und wie kann die Stimme die Interaktion mit den Zuhörenden optimal unterstützen.
Modul 4: Ein Live-Coaching Ein individuelles Training in realitätsnahem Setting. Hier bekommen alle Teilnehmenden die Gelegenheit, am Mikrofon zu trainieren und ein professionelles Feedback einzuholen.

A form of assesment will be provided for those who wish to take the course for credit. This assesment is likely to be multiple choice exam due a few days after the end of the course. Details will be conveyed to registrants. The course will cover -based also on participants' interests and prior knowledge:
- a selection of methods from: Regression basics (mandatory); Panel data, fixed effects; Difference-in-Difference; Instrumental variables; Randomized control trials; Regression discontinuity; Why FE, DiD, IV, RCT, and RD are all the same; Mortality and fertility measures; Happiness measures.
- a selection of topics from: Models of health production; Fetal origins; Wealth-health relationship; Pollution; The health impacts of health insurance; Mental health; Mortality inequality; Fertility; Happiness.
